Among several non-defense outlays in the FY 2010 Defense appropriations bill signed by Obama is $125 million to extend until February the enhanced SBA loaning authority originally granted through the stimulus bill. |

SBA, CDFI See Funding Increases
The omnibus appropriations bill signed by President Obama boosted funding for the Small Business Administration and for Community Development Financial Institutions. The SBA will receive $824 million for FY 2010, $211.7 million more than in 2009. CDFIs will receive $246.75 million, up from $107 million in FY2009. |

Summers Pledges Help For Community Banks, Small Business
National Economic Council Director-designate Lawrence Summers wrote in a Jan. 15 letter to congressional leaders that the administration's Emergency Economic Stablilization plan would include "special efforts to restart lending to the small businesses responsible for over two-thirds of recent job creation" and "ensure the soundness of community banks throughout the country." |
