White House Appoints Adviser on Violence Against Women

Vice President Joe Biden announced that Lynn Rosenthal would be the first White House Adviser on Violence Against Women. Rosenthal, the former executive director of the National Network to End Domestic Violence, will advise the president and vice president and coordinate policy with various agencies to help victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Steady Legislation pending, discussion ongoing, progress evident.

Special Council Created

Obama signed an executive order creating the White House Council on Women and Girls; its duties, according to the White House press release, will include "working hand-in-hand with the vice president, the Justice Department’s Office of Violence Against Women and other government officials to find new ways to prevent violence against women."
