Vilsack Announces $172 Million More For Rural Infrastructure

On the 200th day since President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act into law, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced an additional $172 million for environment and water projects in 24 states. This places the total stimulus spending on water and environment projects thus far at $1.636 billion.

Stimulus Provides Funds For Rural Infrastructure

The economic recovery package [PDF] signed into law by President Obama provides $27.5 billion for highway and bridge construction and repair, $6 billion for clean water projects, and $7.2 billion to bring broadband Internet to underserved areas.
