White House Launches New Serve.gov

To go along with the passage of the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, the White House expanded and relaunched Serve.gov. The site, which is managed by the Corporation for National and Community Service, allows visitors to search for volunteer opportunities and post their own service events to the site.

 

 

Steady Legislation pending, discussion ongoing, progress evident.

USAservice.org Launched

On Jan. 9, Colin Powell announced the "Renew America Together," a nationwide community service initiative in coordination with Martin Luther King Jr. Day. As of Jan. 14, its Web site boasted 8,500 service opportunities. While the USA Service Corps is an office of the White House and thus not yet under Obama's control, the activity of Renew America Together is growing the visibility of volunteer opportunities.
