NIH Issues Draft Of Stem Cell Guidelines

The National Institutes of Health published a draft of the stem cell research guidelines required by Obama's executive order; comments on that draft will be accepted until May 26. The final version of the guidelines is due in early July.

Executive Order Lifts Stem Cell Limits

Obama signed an executive order that reverses President Bush's restrictions on funding stem cell research. The administration will instruct the director of the National Institutes of Health to develop guidelines to support and conduct research that is "both scientifically worthy and responsibly conducted," Obama said. NIH is to issue those guidelines within 120 days.
